In fact, it will be less than 40% of Ike&#039;s top bracket rate. Despite all claims by Repubs to be fiscally responsible, Eisenhower was the last Repub prez to balance the budget more, than half a century ago! Two of them - Reagan and Bush Jr. - in their eight years nearly doubled the national debt that had accumulated in the more than two centuries before their terms. Relative to the past, current fedl tax revenues are low; the problem is less that we spend too much and far more that tax rates, especially for the most wealthy are too low.]]></description>
