Please don't let your cynicism prevent you from trying even harder to prevent these people from destroying our nation. I believe we have all developed a sense of deep cynicism; but hopefully it will drive us to action not inaction. Now more than ever before in our lifetimes; we must band together and place people in positions of power and government that both have sanity & wisdom. Keep up the great fight; it will pay off.

I am constantly puzzled that the austerity induced recessions being experienced in European countries, including the UK, have had no impact on American politicians and most importantly on our media. Do the reporters, columnists, and TV talking heads read the foreign press? Every pro-austerity talking head should have those words tossed back at them with the derision they deserve if we enact the policies they are advocating. And if we move into another recession before we have even recovered from the first one brought on by regulatory and economic policy disasters enabling media personalities should be thrown off the air. As for the politicians on both sides of the isle who are advocating those policies, if they shred what's left of the social safety net and we plunge into another recession, let's hope Americans finally wise up and throw them out. Too bad I'm too cynical to believe we would have the good sense to throw them out before they destroy what's left of our economy.

Blanchard now acknowledges that they underestimated the enormous economic return a country receives for each dollar it spends on government services, especially in economic times like these. And they under-estimated the influence that current personal income and business profits have on spending and investment.

I'm puzzled. Shouldn't that emphatic under- be over- instead?
