You pundits do a great job of spreading information other sites may neglect telling us.

Some ideas for the future:

Minimum wage for waiters and waitresses is a little over $2 an hour. If the public's tips move that over the $7.25 mark, the employer has paid all he has to pay. So, when you leave a tip, it's not always extra money, but money so people can reach minimum wage. Solution: make our "server" bosses pay minimum wage the same as everyone else, and let our tips be for the extra service we receive, not to subsidize some bigwig.

And by the way, minimum wage for adults is more than $15 an hour in Australia, so America could raise poverty wages here by a factor of 2x, which would bring a lot of folks off food stamps and other "welfare" schemes, plus make them proud to work, not ashamed. Good plan to cut the deficit.

Higher salaries means more FICA and Medicare taxes paid, solving that little problem quickly, plus more Income taxes and sales taxes.

Everybody gains, except the folks with yachts that cost sometimes hundreds of millions of dollars, and remember it would take the median worker 30,000 years to earn a billion dollars, and some rich slobs have tens of billions.
