Any government action which results in reduced purchases of goods and services will drive us deeper into recession and not reduce our debt to GDP ratio as has been amply demonstrated in Europe.

We must compensate those thrown out of work if we are to create enough demand for goods and services for our economic system to survive. There are only a few choices — put them on welfare, employ them by government or induce businesses through the tax system or unions to employ them.
