Yes, the law should be called the “Right to FREELOAD” law. Brought to Michigan voters by a lame duck legislature that was not re-elected… without public input.

Actually you are way off about Hostess and your comment about the textile situation… The writer was speaking of when the south gained the textile work from the north… not now when it has gone overseas. As far as Hostess goes, they were “Bained”… Just like Romney did to copmanies, financiers and CEOs kept taking huge paychecks and profits out of Hostess. The workers had years without wage increases while CEOs were taking golden parachutes and bringing in new ones at million dollar salaries. Try considering the facts instead of the propaganda Rush feeds you!

The bottom line on “shirkers” is: That’s too nice a name for them. How bout the good old fashioned name from years ago:

“SCABS”!

Their union member co-workers should shun them both on and off the job. Scabs don’t deserve polite treatment. PERIOD!

The real problem is that the labor union under current law has to represent the “scabs” who refuse to join the union and pay dues. The proper term for these kind of people should be “freeloaders” because that is what they are doing.

These action show the incredible hipocracy of our current “conservative” mouthpieces. There is no law that requires an employer to collect union dues. When a union is elected to represent employees they negotiate on the behalf of those employees. The employer can agree contractually to require membership and dues likely trading for some other cosideration. It is now the employer who has made the decision to honor this contract. This is no different than any other contract for services. This is where the conservative mantra of non govermental interference in the affairs of private enterprise falls to pieces. Suddenly because this contract is with a self run labor sevice the government steps in and choose to make it illegal wether either party feels it is in their best interest or not. What? They don’t choose this path for other contractual agreements. That’s because the real purpose is to keep the labor force divided and politically powerless.Meanwhile corporate entities continue to consolidate,grow exponentaly in size and political power. Thereby controlling our country and enriching politicians who facilitate them. It’s an egomanical power grab that flies completely in the face of “conservative” values of economic freedom to contract. As usual its socialism for them capatalism for the rest of us. These people are progandizing, power crazed sickos. They are destroying our country and and as histiory proves, eventually thereselves.

We cannot say often enough that 1) ‘right-to-work’ actually means ‘right-to-shirk’ AND, thus, it too comes from the spirit that says, to use old Abe’s words, ‘which says, you toil and work and earn bread and I’ll eat it.’
Today’s planters have turned too much on its head to too many people! We have a lot of putting right to do!!
