]]> http://blog.ourfuture.org/20121211/michigan-races-to-bottom-with-anti-union-law#comment-11383 Julie Stroeve Wed, 12 Dec 2012 00:38:32 +0000 http://blog.ourfuture.org/?p=78515#comment-11383 someone said right to work decreases wages by 1500 a year. it’s gotta be more like 10-15000 a year. in rural Iowa the average wage is about 8 bucks an hour. in urban Minnesota the average wage is about 16-20 bucks an hour. that’s a difference between 16000 and 32000 a year. plus right to work employers rarely pays for benefits for its employees. someone who hates workers must answer the question: what is so attractive about paying your employees wages that don’t provide a livable, stable life? if you don’t pay livable wages, you’re going to pay MORE in state taxes to support low wage workers — Medicaid, food stamps, housing supports (title 8) and a whole host of other supports. doesn’t it just make more sense to pay workers a livable wage? this question has always evaded answers. WalMart is the prime example here, but there are thousands of others.
