I'm not on the Middle Class Only bandwagon, and another middle class tax cut would have a marginal impact on the overall budget/economy. On "entitlement reform:" For years, we were told that welfare was the cause of our debt, "bringing taxpayers to their knees," etc. Clinton cut General Assistance (welfare) down to 0. Then he "reformed" AFDC right out of existence. It had no impact on the overall economy and job creation. Virtually everything from food stamps to disability aid has been cut, with all of that money redistributed upward, covering the costs of tax cuts for the rich.Since Reagan, the budget lost several trillion dollars on tax cuts for the rich/corporations, and we are far worse off as a result (far fewer jobs, far more deep poverty). Leave what's left of entitlements alone. Never mind the Clinton tax rates -- restore pre-Reagan tax rates on the rich. If they don't like it, they have the means to leave. Since years of massive corporate tax cuts left us with far fewer jobs, at worsening wages, stop it. Let corporations enjoy the fullness of the competitive free market system they extol.

Why does it have to be either/or. A recall petition does not have to take long, and then worry about jobs after. This way you save the middle class from the Bush (ugh) tax cuts, and then immediately concentrate upon jobs, jobs, jobs.....

It is way past time that somebody got the b***s to kick the Repukes in that location!

The Democrats will not be folding to the Republicans. They have already DECIDED to go along with the Republicans. They must for they feed from the same corporate trough as the Republicans.

There is one party in this country, and it is the Republicrat Party.

The question is poorly framed. I don't think the President should make initial concessions (pre-negotiation), but a 'cave in' attitude seems like the tea party approach -- too 'all or nothing'. A problem is that a pursuit of perfection often obtains nothing at all, and doesn't exist in a democracy. The Constitution was formed to create a 'more perfect' union' and laws formed thereunder should be understood to be changeable and lead by experience.

The public voted on Nov 11. What they want are Jobs, jobs, jobs!
This debate is not about the deficit. It is not about how to cut spending. It is about how we get America working again. It is no time to compromise. Austerity doesn't work!

Absolutely Not! The GOP for the past few years has been a bunch of gangster "insurance" blackmailers. They have done everything they could to stop the President from helping struggling Americans, and when he's tried to compromise with them to protect the people, they kneecapped him at every turn. You cannot deal with streetgang thugs by reasoning with them, there only interest is money and power and they don't care who they hurt as long as they get it. Time to shut them down and shut them out of government until they can behave like decent citizens and do the people's business.
