Please. The Democrats cannot be that stupid. It’s obvious what the Repubs are doing and if the Dems go for it, in particular The President, it will demonstrate that both parties and the President and all the candidates are bought and paid for.

That’s all. Simple.

If they cave I will certainly have lost my voice when I voted for President Obama instead of Jill Stein. She showed real GUTS and intelligence.

I took an oath to support and defend the U.S. Against all enemies foreign and domestic, just as these GOP officials did. To sign a pledge to never raise taxes, in spite of what could happen and with a guy who has already said in public, his plan is to shrink government so it will fit into a bathtub and then sink it, sounds an awful lot like domestic terror to me. So, my question has always been why doesn’t justice open a file on this clown, and every government offical that has signed the pledge–sounds a lot like sedition or treason to me–should be disqualification for holding any offical government office.

Very well put. The Democrats are FINISHED as a party if they allow SS, Medicare and Medicaid to be diminished for recipients in ANY way.

I’ve been saying the same in the discussions of Norquist for weeks now. I just finished watching his live interview on Politico, and one of his last comments was “Whining isn’t work, and neither is gloating.” Norquist is the energizer bunny of the right. He’s smart, picks his fights well, and doesn’t get demoralized. Progressives could learn a lot from him, in terms of both tactics, and general approach to the political terrain.

I think his power over GOP votes has diminished somewhat, but I think he’s far from down and out.
