I think the President should call their bluff this time. Just don't do anything and let the so called fiscal cliff fall. There won't be any immediate repercussions right away and the GOP will see he's doing his job this time. Four years of trying to work with those clowns just made him look weak. Let the Republicans show America just how greedy they are and how their willing to take the whole country down once again just to get their way. And if they want to fillabuster every vote make them do just that, stand up for hours and explain why their way is better. No more phoning in their objections. Just once show all of America just what a bunch of evil people they really are. I'm trying to be civil and not sound as hateful as they all are but it isn't easy to find adjectives to say how I really feel about those people.

During the first four years of his presidency, Mr. Obama did not take the action he is proposing now - at last. Could he have? I doubt it. He wanted to fulfill a 2008 campaign promise to bring the two parties together. During the first two years, he still had enough political support to try, and so he did, repeatedly, even giving up on the Public Option. You may attribute that concession, along with his willingness to place entitlements on the table, to his lack of experience in dealing with enemies openly claiming their first priority was denying him a second term. Or you may say he was naïve, even spineless in his dealings with them and with fence sitting Blue Dogs, Democrats in name only. Attacked from the very first day after his inauguration and conciliatory to a fault, he would have had "Loser" stamped on his forehead, killing his chances for a second term. I used to grumble that Democrats, basking in their 12008 success, had the 2010 mid-term election to lose, and sure enough they lost it.

But now, he's proven himself to be a winner, with two consecutive presidential elections under his belt, so to speak, and is no longer a wimp but a giant killer, sweeping Cantor, Romney, Ryan, McCaine, Limbaugh, the Koch's etc off the table and to the floor. Now is the time to strike, for he will not be given another chance as powerful as now, when McConnell and Boehner are up for re-election. Give him all the support that he most surely will need. We achingly know money, lots of it, is power, but people, lots of them. have just demonstrated the power of their numbers, and it is fearsome.

My taxes will go up on January 1, along with everyone else. The country will continue to suffer a weak recovery, high unemployment, and all the rest for another two years, while the Asian and European economies recover. In November, 2014, Mr. Boehner and Mr. McConnell, along with the rest of the rich mans' party, come up for re-election. They've already picked their ticket - it will be Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio. Ryan to appeal to the base, Rubio to the Hispanic vote. Can we guess what the result will be then? The Republican party may be betting its life on sticking to their Grover Norquist pledge and ignoring the needs of he country.
